Computer Program
Seattle Area Ministries has offered free computer training to interested people who do not have the skills to otherwise obtain well-paying employment. This was under the auspices of Emerald City Outreach Ministries. We had a computer lab in the basement of Brighton Presbyterian Church consisting of 16 DEC Rainbow-100 computers, a PDP-11/24 minicomputer, and numerous printers. The church eventually needed the space and we moved the lab to the ECOM office. For the last two years, we have not had the personnel to staff a computer lab and ECOM moved to smaller premises, thus the program has been on-hold. However, we have been loaning computer equipment to various organizations during this time. We plan to resume this program in the future, probably in the White Center and/or Burien area.
In the mean-time, we are saving up money for a new computer lab with at least ten state-of-the-art computers, including networking and multimedia. When the funds and personnel are ready, we will move on this.
